My black lab Harley is prone to ear infections. Is there any preventative action I should be taking to avoid the problem? Are there special potions I can buy to clean out his ears? If so, what are they? Thank you. - JoAnne, Topeka
JoAnne, You must get the ears evaluated for an infection if this has been an ongoing problem. Getting them clean and begining antibiotics is essential to the ears good health. There are solutions for prevention and can be used as often as needed. This can help you assess the debris in the ear and if it needs attention. I would recommend getting the solution at a veterinary office. It will be a better solution that may not only dry the ears, but break up the waxy debris in the canal. If there is a chronic problem, there may be another illness that needs to be addressed. Thank you, Dr. Trupp
