A friend of mine has recently had a baby, she also has a very mean-spirited cat. She doesn't seem to have a problem with this animal, however I worry about how it will be around the baby when mommy isn't around. Any suggestions for her? - Liz, Topeka

Liz, This is a great question and a common concern. I would suggest that you can allow the cat to be with the baby in the same room. The cat will be naturally curious and want to know what is going on and who is this new person and new smells. I would not leave them unsupervised. And, the interest may deminish.
