Alex is happy to quickly take on his role as KTKA's morning meteorologist. The morning shift is perfect for his rare, unmatched energy. From his childhood, Alex's energy has been unstopped, especially not by the weather.

Alex comes to Kansas from his Badgerland roots in Wisconsin. He grew up on a 2,000-acre farm about 40 miles west of Madison, near Arena. His family farm has been in operation for nearly a century, and he takes great pride in his "land-oriented" upbringing.

His undying passion -- all right, obsession -- for weather has been flowing through his veins for as long as he can remember. Alex's family, friends and community have always recognized, and to some degree put up with, his unrelenting drive to observe, learn and communicate his fanaticism for weather phenomena, especially tornadoes.

With the help of the Verner Soumi Spacescience Scholarship, Alex planted himself in the Atmospheric and Oceanic Sciences program at the University of Wisconsin Madison as an undergraduate researcher for the Cooperative Institute for Meteorological Satellite Studies (CIMSS). Alex flourished at UW-Madison. He conducted computer model research for CIMSS and Wisconsin Space Grant Consortium (WSGC). Alex was selected to represent UW-Madison, CIMSS, WSGC and the State of Wisconsin at the Regional Space Grant Consortium (RSGC). At the RSGC meeting, Alex was honored with first place standings for his research and was selected to give a special presentation on his work.

Alex recently completed his Masters Degree at UW-Madison in Atmospheric and Oceanic Sciences. During his graduate career, Alex focused on a number of research topics including Midwestern agricultural effects from global climate change and tornado forecasting. Concurrent with his studies and research, Alex also taught and tutored meteorology courses at UW-Madison.

When Alex is not "obsessing" about the weather, he remains very active. He was a track and cross-country runner, but currently enjoys lifting over running. And, believe or not, Alex can tap dance.

Alex is happy to join the KTKA team and to call Northeast Kansas home. He cannot ignore that the Kansas twister scene in The Wizard of Oz nurtured his early weather-craze. Keeping that in mind, his move to Kansas seems to be his uncanny fate.
