Denise Eck
Executive Producer
Executive Producer Denise Eck leads an award-winning team of journalists at 49 News.
As a reporter, Denise's investigative and breaking news reporting of the Virginia Tech massacre helped WSLS-TV earn a Peabody Award in 2008. Denise also has two regional Edward R. Murrow awards for investigative reporting. One investigation revealed that no one prevents dangerous drivers from getting behind the wheel, despite not having licenses. The other exposed a travel agent who ripped off customers of thousands of dollars, yet the law allowed him to get away with it... until Denise's reports pressured prosecutors to take action. Denise was also part of Emmy-awarding coverage of deadly natural gas explosions in Hutchinson, Kansas, and has awards from the Kansas Association of Broadcasters and the Associated Press of Virginia.
Nowadays, Denise enjoys developing stories that make a difference in the lives of Northeast Kansans.
When she's not at work, Denise enjoys riding her bike, working on her home in Southwest Topeka, and spending time with her two favorite guys, Mike and Spike.
