Heidi Nelson is Topeka born and raised and excited to be back after spending most of the past five years in the Windy City. She attended Gage Elementary School and Landon Middle School and graduated from Topeka High before heading to Wheaton College in Wheaton, Illinois.
Heidi graduated with a major in communication and a minor in English literature. During her time at Wheaton, she interned at WMBI 90.1 in Chicago and worked at WETN 88.1 in Wheaton. After graduating from college, Heidi took a year off to volunteer with AmeriCorps Project YES! in downtown Chicago. She had the privilege of serving students at Noble Street Charter High School for a year.
Heidi is often called an compulsive information giver - she loves to know what's happening in our world and enjoys sharing the news of the day with others. She enjoys trivia of all sorts and exploring the Internet. Heidi spends her free time with family, her loveable Labradoodle, Charlie, and friends from her church. She also enjoys reading, going to the movies and watching too much television.
Heidi is excited to have her first real news job at a station she grew up watching and looks forward to all the changes that are happening at 49 News. Heidi is the producer of Good Morning Kansas, 49 News' morning news show.
