India Williams joined the 49 News Team in November 2007 as a field producer. In February 2008, she was promoted to producer of 49 News' Good Morning Kansas show, which begins at 5 a.m. Monday through Friday.

In May 2007, India graduated from Doane College with a degree in mass communication. She was also one of few to intern for the Kansas City Association Broadcast Journalism Urban Student Journalism Academy sponsored by the National Association of Black Journalists.

During college, India directed, reported and produced for Doane College Television's Doane Weekly. She also wrote and worked as the advertising assistant manager for the campus newspaper, The Doane Owl. During the summer of 2006, India worked as a promotions intern for Lincoln Radio Broadcast House (KFGE 98.1 FM), which is the number one country radio station in Nebraska.
