Marshanna Hester is the 6 and 10 p.m. co-anchor and money reporter for 49 News.
She joined the news team in 2006 as the evening web editor and became a reporter that same year. In 2007, she added the responsibility of weekend anchor, and in 2009 accepted the position of 6 and 10 p.m. co-anchor.
Marshanna grew up in Boonville, Missouri, and developed a love for journalism while working on her high school newspaper, the Pirate Press. That passion and desire for new surroundings led her study broadcast journalism at the University of Kansas, where she earned her Bachelor of Science degree in news and information in 2005. Highlights of her KU days include being a news reporter and sports producer/anchor for the campus television station, KUJH-TV.
Marshanna lives in Topeka with her dog Sam, and in her spare time watches sports, movies and plays a little pool. She is also a member of Zeta Phi Beta Sorority, Inc. Having learned a lot about the issues facing northeast Kansas, she is excited about future challenges and is looking forward to reporting on issues that matter most to you.
