Matt Lothrop is a sports reporter and anchor for KTKA 49 ABC.
He joined the team in September 2009 after graduating from the Missouri School of Journalism with a degree in TV/Radio News.
Matt's love for sports began at an early age and has since blossomed into a career. He likes professional sports but his passion is college and high school athletics, particularly baseball. That comes from a life long obsession with the sport. It started as a kid sharing a seat with his twin brother at the College World Series and has continued to the present as he has missed just one series since he was a kid.
Matt comes from KOMU-TV 8 in Columbia, Missouri where he worked as a news and sports reporter, anchor, videographer and producer. Working at KOMU, he was able to cover the Missouri Tigers football and basketball teams rise to national prominence.
He has spent his entire life in the Midwest and is from Glenwood, Iowa. He got his first taste of journalism working for his hometown newspaper right out of high school. At The Opinion-Tribune, he had the opportunity to cover a variety of stories ranging from professional wrestling to the city council.
Matt loves telling interesting and compelling stories. If you have a great story that needs telling, please email him.
