Matt is the chief photographer for 49 News and hopes to lead the photographer staff to recognition as one of the best for small-market television stations in the country.

He brings a lot of experience to his position – from covering snow storms in Fargo, North Dakota, to hurricanes in Fort Myers, Florida – and feels honored to be able to look for and report equally challenging stories in Kansas alongside other dedicated and talented staff.

Matt graduated from Moorhead State, located in Moorhead, Minnesota, in 2002, with a bachelor’s degree in mass communications, and is now working on his Masters degree from Washburn University.

Spending time with his wife and daughter is what he loves most, but he also finds time to play the banjo. And now that he and his wife are back in the Midwest they hope to have more visits with their families in Minnesota.
